ISDN is the acronym for Integrated Services Digital Network. It is a high-speed, fully digital telephone service. ISDN lines can operate at speeds up to 128 kilobits/second, which is five or more times faster than analog lines. The transfer of information over the internet or over a LAN connection can be dramatically increased with ISDN.

ISDN is a powerful and flexible service that provides support for many different solutions from PC connectivity to burglar alarm monitoring. A normal analog line comes with few options like Call Waiting or Call Forwarding. An ISDN line, on the other hand, has hundreds of options and choices to choose from for optimum performance.

As ISDN lines are equipped with two channels, you will be provided with two telephone numbers. You can use each channel on its own, or you can bind the two together for faster transmission. Each channel is capable of speeds up to 64K. When you bind the channels together, you may have a speed of 128K.
